Convention I

The chair is a countless interpreted piece of furniture. »Convention pt.1« is an interpretation of a stackable chair with armrests that deals with structural relations within a chair and decomposes its components.

Each structural segment is visually defined. The elements are connected firmly to each other at the nodes through metal wedges.
The series »convention« raises to question conventional connection methods as well as the popular idea of the personal relationship between user and furniture through the process of assembling. Here one has to use a hammer and wedges to assemble the parts — maybe there will be an unforeseen mark afterwards?
There is longing for individuality but a partly narrow defined cultural environment, a world of objects that often leaves little space for unforeseen events and creativity.
For »Conventions pt.1« wood and metal were selected. Materials that complement one another.
